A large fuel-production unit at Nigeria’s Dangote oil refinery is undergoing maintenance, according to a Bloomberg report.
It’s not clear precisely when maintenance began at the residue fluid catalytic cracker (RFCC) — a gasoline-oriented unit with a capacity of about 200,000 barrels a day — or when it will end. The refinery’s crude distillation unit is, however, unaffected, according to Bloomberg.
While the RFCC isn’t the only unit used in gasoline production at the 650,000 barrel-a-day plant, it’s big enough that any outage will likely impact regional trade flows. The refinery was recently supplying 18.4 million liters — 115,000 barrels — of gasoline to the domestic market each day.
No gasoline or diesel has been exported from Dangote since April 14, according to analytics firm Kpler. Meanwhile, the port received a large gasoline shipment from India last week, the first such cargo since 2022.
The RFCC was previously reported to be scheduled for maintenance in June.
