The  Nasarawa state controller of Nigerian Midstream  and Downstream Regulatory Authority NMDRA, has accused marketers of fuel scacity and the price hike of the commodity in Nasarawa.

Head, regulatory body in the state, Alhaji Ahmed Gwaram, made this known while  attending to medial profesionals who were in his Lafia office recently.

He availed that owners of some filling stations in the country are selling the product above government approved price of N165, per litter thereby causing untold hardship to the populace.

He explained that some filling stations especially in Nasarawa state stockpiles the product underground and pretend insufficiency of the commodity thereby using one dispenser to sale to consumer at 270 to 280 per litter.

He assured Nigerians to remain calm and desist from panic buying and that NNPC is working assediously to seen that the product is sufficiently supplied to every part of the country before we enters the second week of March.

In his reaction, the chairman, Nasarawa state petroleum dealers Association,  Alhaji Usman Sandaji stated that marketers buy fuel above165, naira per litter and can not sale to consumers at 165 naira, as that would crumbled their bussines, he added that marketers in the state are doing their best to supply fuel to consumers.

He therefore called on the state controller of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Regulatory Authority NMDRA, to always call for meeting between dealers and the body like DSS does for better understanding.

He cleared the insinuation of fuel stockpilement in his filling station as saying, “Sandaji group of companies operates schools, fuel stations, hospitals amongst others, so if there is 5000 litters of fuel underground, the company alone can consume it, more so Iam a stakeholder in the state, as the Turakin Lafia, I can’t stockpile fuel so that the people should suffer. ” he posted.
