Tony Elumelu’s Heirs Energies’ 150mscf Daily Gas Output Boosts Transafam Power Generation

Heirs energies a subsidiary of Heirs Holdings, the Tony Elumelu owned investment company, has increased its daily gas production to 150 million standard cubic feet (scf) and in the process supplying much needed gas to Transafam Power, which has boosted power supply in Nigeria.

The Transcorp Group power business includes its subsidiary Transcorp Power and another power business, Transafam where it has 2 plants.

“When you look at Heirs Energies, Mr. Tony Elumelu’s oil company, they have boosted gas supply to 150m scf a day in that region, and continued to supply gas to Transafam power to help us increase our output,” President/Group CEO of Transnational Corporation Plc, Dr. Owen Omogiafo said.

Transcorp Group saw an increase in average power generation in the third quarter (Q3) of 2025, reflecting Transcorp Power’s continued investment in improving generation capacity and operational excellence.

The Group plans to improve its power generation capacity into the end of the year, with a target of 750 megawatts (MW) of available capacity for Transcorp power, while peak generation is set for 590 MW, higher than the 424MW achieved as at the third quarter (Q3) of 2025.

For Transafam Power, the available capacity target is 378MW.

Transcorp Group will explore bilateral contracts with power Distribution Company’s (DisCos), to improve power supply to Nigerian end users, Omogiafo said.

The Transcorp Group power portfolios include Transcorp Power Plc, Ughelli, Delta State and Transafam Power Limited, Oyigbo, Rivers State.

Transafam was acquired in 2021, and produced at just 35MW on a good day before privatisation. However, available capacity for Transafam had risen to 305MW by the end of 2024.

In 2025, Transcorp Group is continuing on its proven strategy and the mission set out of improving lives and transforming Africa, according to Dr. Omogiafo.

For Power generating, Transcorp Group will focus on increasing the generating capacity that it already has and also improving effective power generation.
