ASR Africa Hands Over 150-Bed, N4bn Hospital to Nigerian Police in Abuja

The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative – brainchild of Abdul Samad Rabiu, Founder/Executive Chairman of BUA Group has donated and handed over a newly built 150-bed hospital worth N4billion to the Nigerian Police in Abuja.

The hospital, which is called the “ASR Africa Police National Reference Hospital, Abuja”, is the first donation of its kind to the Nigerian Police and was funded from the annual $100million ASR Africa Fund for Social Development and Renewal.

Speaking at the physical handover of the hospital building to Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector General of Police, Abdul Samad Rabiu said that the hospital was built out of the desire to provide the best healthcare services and facilities for the Nation’s security operatives and other Nigerians.

“Today, what we have simply done is to bring healthcare closer to the people that protect lives and properties in the country and to other Nigerians who will also benefit from the facility. We are ready and committed to partner with any government and non-government organizations to make critical interventions and sustainable impact in healthcare and social development for the benefit of the people.” Abdul Samad Rabiu added.

In his comments, the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, commended the generosity of the founder of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, in considering the welfare of the Police as part of his philanthropic work. According to the Inspector General, this hospital was conceived and completed in a record time without any hitch. “This is a first step. We intend to now equip this hospital to a world class standard before the full formal commissioning of the hospital. We are indeed grateful to Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu and ASR Africa for this hospital.”, he added.

Also speaking on the activities of the ASR Africa Initiative, Ubon Udoh, MD/CEO of ASR Africa said that various grants have been awarded to educational institutions, health facilities, governments as well as non-governmental organizations as part of ASR Africa’s contributions to sustainable development in Africa.

“When ASR Africa began, we set aside $100 million yearly for various interventions in health, education and social development. Within nine months, we have shown how passionate we are about social impact and development especially in the areas of health care delivery, education, social development, and sustainable infrastructure.

The ASR Africa Police National Reference Hospital is a world-class medical institution for the Nigeria Police which has provisions for multiple Consultation Rooms, Gynae & Antenatal wards, Ophthalmology & Dental facilities, Dialysis rooms, Physiotherapy centre, A&E Wards, Pharmacies, Medical Lab & Mammography facilities, 3 Paediatric Wards, 14 Private & General wards and a morgue.

The brainchild of African Industrialist, Philanthropist and Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) was established in 2021 to provide sustainable, impact-based homegrown solutions to developmental issues affecting Health, Education and Social Development within Africa.
