Asset Ranking: Access Holdings, UBA and Zenith Top List of Nigeria’s Largest Banks

Nigeria’s largest banks in terms of balance sheet size include, Access Holdings, United Bank for Africa (UBA) and Zenith Bank Plc, which make up the top three.

Access Holdings with total assets of N52.19 trillion as at the 9-months period that ended September 2025, leads the pack, followed by UBA with N32.49 trillion and Zenith Bank at N31.17 trillion.

First HoldCo with total assets of N26.39 trillion is next, followed by Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO), with N16.65 trillion, *Fidelity Bank N10.45 trillion, Stanbic IBTC Holdings N8.38 trillion and **FCMB N7.53 trillion.

Fidelity Bank data is for the first quarter (Q1) of 2025 as it is yet to release financials beyond that period, FCMB data is for Half Year (H1), 2025.

Sterling Bank at N4.09 trillion and Wema Bank at N3.97 trillion, make up the top ten. Total assets for the 10 banks summed up to N193.31 trillion.

The largest components of total assets were investment securities, Loans and advances and cash and bank balances.
