In a move unprecedented in the history of corporate Nigeria, BUA Group has rewarded 510 long time staff with cash awards to the tune of N30 billion.

The N30 billion reward for long-serving staff from BUA Group sets an extremely high benchmark for corporate recognition and staff loyalty, solidifying the company’s reputation as a top employer.

Abdul Samad Rabiu, CFR, CON, the Founder and Chairman of BUA Group presented the checks and awards to staff at the BUA 2025, night of excellence award ceremony held in Lagos on Saturday.

Rabiu, emphasized that the cash awards did not signify the worth of the staff being honoured but token amount to show gratitude to them for the sweat they used in helping to build up the BUA Group to where it is today.

BUA Foods, owned by BUA Group, became the largest listed company on the Nigeria Exchange (NGX) in 2025.

The combined market capitalisation of listed BUA Group companies, BUA Foods (N12.465 trillion) and BUA Cement (N5.486 trillion), stood at $12.4 billion or N17.95 trillion as at Friday December 12, 2025.

Due to time considerations at the event, only 41 recipients received their awards physically from the Chairman during the ceremony. These represented the highest award categories, ranging from ₦100 million to ₦1 billion.

The on stage recipients comprised sixteen recipients of ₦100 million each, nine recipients of ₦200 million each, seven recipients of ₦250 million each, three recipients of ₦500 million each, five recipients of ₦1 billion each, and one special award recipient whose cash award was not announced at the event.

The special award was presented to Kabiru Rabiu in recognition of his exceptional loyalty, leadership, and long standing contribution to the growth and stability of the BUA Group.

Five staff went home with N1 billion each, while numerous other long time dedicated staff received cash gifts ranging from N500 million, N250 million, N200 million and N100 million each.

The cash awards reflect the overarching business philosophy of BUA Group’s founder, Abdulsamad Rabiu, which consistently emphasizes backward integration, expansion, and a commitment to human capital development.

The disbursement of N30 billion directly into the hands of loyal employees represents a significant injection of funds that will boost local spending power and consumption across various sectors.

By deploying this kind of capital for employee recognition, BUA Group is setting a new standard that other large Nigerian conglomerates will be pressured to meet or exceed.
