In a significant move to boost morale for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has announced a massive financial incentive for the Super Eagles following their quarter-final victory over Algeria.
The billionaire industrialist pledged a total of $1.5 million in performance-based rewards to spur the team toward a fourth continental title.
The Incentive Breakdown
The rewards are structured to reward both aggregate victory and individual goal-scoring during the final stages of the tournament in Morocco:
-
The Semi-Final (vs. Morocco): $500,000 for winning the match, $50,000 for every goal scored in the fixture.
-
The Grand Final: $1,000,000 for lifting the trophy, $100,000 for every goal scored in the championship finals match.
The Road to AFCON Finals
Nigeria enters the semi-final with significant momentum, having defeated Algeria 2-0 on January 10, 2026, thanks to strikes from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams. The team, coached by Eric Chelle, has now reached its record 16th AFCON semi-final.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to face the host nation, Morocco, on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
