President Buhari Swears In Justice Olukayade Ariwoola As Acting CJN

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday swore in Justice Olukayade Ariwoola as the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), following the resignation of Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad.

Justice Olukayade Ariwoola becomes the third Judge to occupy the office of the CJN under President Buhari’s administration.

Recall that Justice Walter Onnoghen also became the CJN under the President Buhari administration before he resigned from office.

Buhari administered the oath of office on Ariwoola at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The new acting CJN, Justice Olukayade Ariwoola, was accompanied to the ceremony by some Justices of the Supreme Court.

Ariwoola, 62, takes over from the outgone CJN, justice Tanko Muhammad, and is expected to serve in an acting capacity till further confirmation by the National Judicial Council (NJC).

While taking the judicial oath, the new CJN swore to be faithful and bear true allegiance to the Federal Government of Nigeria, as well as defend the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
