Small capitalized stocks are the best performers so far in 2021 on the NGX exchange with Lasaco Insurance up a whopping 357 percent year to date and Champion breweries up some 138 percent.
The top ten best performers are made up of stocks with market capitalization mostly below the N100 billion mark.
They include Regency Assurance +118%, Cutix plc +109%, and Vitafoam up +105 percent.
On the flip end of the scale some of the worst performers include Airtel Africa which has returned -29.4 percent, FCMB Group -9 percent, Guaranty Trust Holdco -8.50 percent and Stanbic IBTC -7.6 percent.
Stocks are currently in marking time mode as they await earnings season for the second quarter of 2021, which analysts expect to be a catalyst for any further upside.
The main Nigerian stock index the NGX All Share is down 3.98 percent this year.
