Welcome to Becoming Together

Welcome to Becoming Together, a place where we embark on a journey of continuous growth and discovery, not just for ourselves but for the children who will shape our future. I’m Stella, and I believe that parenthood is a profound journey of self-discovery and growth.

As I navigate the ups and downs of being a parent, I’ve realized that I cannot expect my children to become their best selves without first becoming my best self. This realisation has fueled my passion to pursue higher knowledge in personal, professional, and parenting realms.

Parenthood, to me, is the most intense, demanding, yet rewarding experience on earth when done right. It challenges us to dig deep, confront our fears and limitations, and constantly strive to be better—not just for ourselves but for the little ones who look up to us and teach us so much in return.

In this newsletter, I’ll be sharing my personal experiences, reflections, and insights as I navigate through life and parenthood. Together, we’ll explore the joys, challenges, and wonders of becoming better individuals, parents, and guardians.

Unfolding Our Collective Story: ‘Becoming Together’ Newsletter Premiere!”

Hey there, fellow journeyer!

I’m so excited to send out my first newsletter to all of you amazing folks!

Welcome to the very first edition of “Becoming Together”—our cozy corner where we sip metaphorical tea, share stories, and explore the beautiful chaos of life. I’m Stella, your guide on this adventure, and I’m thrilled to have you here.

In this Edition:

How Did I Get Here?

Picture this: a winding path through a sun-dappled forest. The air smells of curiosity and fresh beginnings.

That’s me right now (and I hope you as well!). So, how did I get here? Well, it’s been quite a journey; involving a dash of courage, a sprinkle of vulnerability, and a whole lot of heart. Nurturing my kids has taught me that I can’t raise thriving children if I’m not thriving myself.

It’s like planting a garden; before the flowers bloom, the soil needs tending. So, I’ve been on a quest—learning, growing, and becoming. This realization has been intense but incredibly transformative, leading me to launch this newsletter and share this journey with all of you.

The Potato Epiphany

Last week, I had a funny moment with my kids. My kitchen turned into a mini laboratory and oven-baked potatoes were the experiment du jour. Now, my older one isn’t particularly a fan of potatoes so I encouraged her to try a little. She eyed the potatoes like they were alien artefacts. But I insisted she takes a tiny bite. “Just try it,” I said, channelling my inner parenting guru.

Here’s the twist: I’m not a potato fan either (shhh, don’t tell the breakfast police). I thought I could sneak past this starchy situation. Fast forward to my own plate. You would think she wouldn’t notice.  But kids have radar, right?

When it was my turn to eat, she realised I wasn’t thrilled about potatoes as well. My little sage reminded me to try it the way I wanted her to try it. “Mom, practice what you preach!” With a grin, I reluctantly picked one with a fork and as I chewed quietly, a profound thought nestled among the carbs – Our children watch us.

They learn from our every move, our words, our choices. It was a simple moment, but it made me think deeply about the messages we send to our children. How do we model life? Are we modelling curiosity, resilience, and open-mindedness? Because they’re learning from us—every single day.

“Outliers” by Malcolm Gladwell

Have you ever read “Outliers” by Malcolm Gladwell? Ah, the book that nudges us to peek behind the curtain of success! It’s a fascinating book that explores the factors that contribute to success and the role of opportunities in our lives.

It’s not just about talent or hard work. Nope. It’s about seizing opportunities, cultural context, and timing. Ever notice how some folks catch the perfect wave while others flail in the shallows? It’s worth a read if you haven’t checked it out yet. So, my fellow explorers, will you try something new today? Maybe not oven-baked potatoes (unless you’re feeling adventurous), but perhaps a fresh perspective, a daring leap, or a whispered dream. Let’s be our own outliers.

And that’s a wrap for my inaugural newsletter! Stay tuned for more tales, tips, and triumphs. Remember, we’re all becoming—better, wiser, and wonderfully imperfect.

Cheers to the journey ahead!

Until next time,

Stella ✨
