Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has given companies until August 1, 2026 to comply with statutory requirements on business letters, warning that defaulters will face sanctions.
In a public notice on Wednesday, the commission said enforcement will begin under Sections 304(1) and (2) and 729(1)(c) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020, and applies to all companies registered under the law or any statute it repealed.

The CAC said that from August 1, 2026, it will enforce full compliance with the rules on company business letters, with attendant sanctions for non-compliance.
It urged companies to review their letterheads and official correspondence before the deadline to ensure they meet the legal requirements. The commission said the measure is intended to improve the accuracy of information on directors and corporate identity in official communications and strengthen compliance with CAMA 2020.
The notice also reaffirmed the commission’s focus on transparency, accountability and customer satisfaction as it works to build a more resilient and responsive corporate regulatory environment.
