NEPC Moves to Create Export Awareness in South East

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) had said that through its intensive export awareness campaigns, jingles and other efforts mounted, it has been able to prepare the citizens to optimally utilise the export potentials available in the South East geo-political zone.

Anthony Ajuruchi, the Trade Promotion Advisor /Head, NEPC, Owerri Smart Office, who made this known also informed that said that through the One-State-One-Product (OSOP) initiative, the council in collaboration with the state governments, has continued to develop products with comparative advantage (in production) in the states for export, including Imo State.

He stated that products like pineapple and palm oil which are of Imo State origin are now being exported to various parts of the world.

According to Ajuruchi, from 2016-2021 exporters such as Obail Oil & Gas Nig. Ltd, Fedora Agro Development Cooperative ltd, Logos Supper Foods & Agro Products ltd, International Food Stores, Zobera Logistics,Davinic Woods, Minitoko Concept, Danox Agro & Industries Ltd, etc., exported products such as palm kernel  shell, cashew nuts, bread fruits, and groundnuts.

Others include, mixed grain flour, bitter kola, ofor, egusi, ogbono, oha, ogiri, uziza, crayfish, even some manufactured products like indomie, malt drink, stout, coca cola etc, all worth on the average over USD2.3 million to Poland, Australia, USA, Angola, UK, Italy Ghana and Dubai etc.

Meanwhile, he commended Governor Hope Uzodinma for providing what he described as an enabling business environment, saying that the Imo government has been friendly with NEPC but still asked for more support from the State government.
