Nigeria Revenue Service Takes Flight as FG Officially Retires FIRS in Historic Revenue Reset

The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has officially commenced operations, replacing the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). This transition is part of a landmark fiscal overhaul initiated by the signing of the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, 2025.

This development was disclosed in a statement released by Mr Dare Adekanmbi, Special Adviser on Media to the NRS Executive Chairman, Mr Zacch Adedeji.

Adekanmbi quoted Adedeji as speaking during the official unveiling of the service’s logo and brand elements in Abuja on Wednesday.

Adedeji said the new logo marked an important milestone in the evolution of Nigeria’s revenue administration framework.

“The unveiling of the NRS identity reflects a renewed commitment to a unified, efficient, and service-oriented revenue system aligned with Nigeria’s economic transformation agenda,” he said.

He added that the identity signalled continuity of purpose, strengthened capacity, and a forward-looking approach to supporting taxpayers and national development.

“The Nigeria Revenue Service remains committed to transparency, partnership and service excellence, building trust and shared prosperity with the Nigerian public,” Adedeji said.
