A Thai court found Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin guilty of an ethical violation in the appointment of a convicted lawyer as a minister, paving the way for his immediate ouster.
The nine-member Constitutional Court said Srettha had violated ethical standards by appointing Pichit Chuenban, who was jailed for contempt of court following a bribery attempt in 2008, to his cabinet in April. The court voted 5 to 4 to dismiss the prime minister.
The court’s decisions are final and can not be appealed.
