3 years after, decomposed body of missing NSCDC officer found in Benue

Female officer with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Assistant Superintendent of Corps, Josephine Cynthia Inalegwu Onche who was missing since 2019 has been found in a shallow grave in Obi local government area of Benue State.

It was gathered that the said officer was declared missing by her family on 20th December 2019, few days to her wedding when she had gone to the market to buy some wedding items.

According to family sources, efforts to locate her where about proved abortive until an informant who allegedly saw how she was heinously murdered by her would be husband for ritual purpose, picked courage to inform her family about the death.

An informant said to be a commercial motorcycle rider assisted detectives that led to the arrest of the would be husband and a herbalist who were fingered in the killing.

Cynthia who is a mother of three children according to family sources was the daughter of the former Mayor of Otukpo local government area.

“The cyclist led detectives to arrest Cynthia’s proposed husband who is an Igbo man who led the police to Ogun State where they arrested the native doctor, a Yoruba man that performed the ritual at Obi local government area before relocating to the South West State later”.

The proposed husband and the native doctor have confessed committing the crime and are presently in police custody in Otukpo even as the family were said to have exhumed her remains and reburied her on 1st June 2021.

When contacted, the Benue State Command’s Public Relations Officer (CPRO), NSCDC, ASC Ejelikwu Michael declined comment on the matter but said he would rather speak on the matter at a later date.
