A 38-year-old female prayer warrior who is also a native doctor, Ruth Keneth, has been apprehended by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly conniving with kidnappers.

Ruth, a mother of 7, who resides along Numan road in Yola, Adamawa State, was accused of furnishing kidnappers with a phone number of a sick person brought to her from Bengo in Fufore LGA for prayers.

The woman who was paraded at the police headquarters in Yola on Friday, said that her business is praying and administering herbs to those who have spiritual problems.

The professed prayer warrior/native doctor landed herself in the soup few days after the sick person brought to her for prayers and his children were called by the suspects who demanded N10million ransom.

When the man was taken to her for healing by his children and son in-law, the woman informed them that it was revealed to her during prayers that the man’s name was given to kidnappers.

She advised them to buy a ram of 2 years without bargaining its prize and bring it to her for sacrifice for a solution to the man’s problem.

She told them that after slaughtering the ram, she will pull one its horns, remove something from its heart and mix it with some herbs.

According to her, after completing concoction, she will go and bury the horn in the sick person’s house at Bengo, and that no kidnapper or armed robber will attempt coming to his house.

She assured them that even if his enemies come to his house, they will not see him not to talk of abducting or harming him or his children.

Having heard the woman, the sick person, his children and son in-law told her that they will return back home and prepare for it as they were not having money at that time.

On returning back home, the woman kept calling the man where she informed him that she had since committed herself and started gathering some herbs and waiting for them.

Surprisingly, 4 days after they had returned back home in early November, 2022, a strange number called the sick man, his son in-law, and 2 of his children and demanded N10million ransom or abduct him or any of his children.

The suspects informed them that the sick man, and his children went and consulted a native doctor, and that no native doctor can harm them except if she is a woman who uses demons.

It was gathered that the phone number which was used by the suspects was tracked by the operatives of the command which led to the arrest of the woman.

It was learnt that all the phone conversations between the suspects and the children as well as the son in-law of the man were recorded in the woman’s phone.

Confirming the arrest on Friday, The Adamawa Police Spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said that the operatives of the Command apprehended her and that investigation is ongoing.

SP Nguroje, said that the Commissioner of Police, S. K. Akande, had ordered Criminal Investigation Department to conduct discreet investigation into the matter as well as ensure the prosecution of whoever that is found wanting.

Meanwhile, he has advised the general public to be very watchful while carrying out their daily activities and report suspicious movement around them.
