Abductors Of Nasarawa Information commissioner Reduce Ransom To N20m as Security Agencies Step Up Search

Abductors of Nasarawa state information, culture and tourism commissioner, Mr Lawal Yakubu  abducted five days ago in Nasarawa Eggon Local government Thursday morning  slashed the demand for ransom  from N100m to N20 million to secure the  release of their victim.

Mohammed Yakubu Lawal who was kidnapped at his residence in Nasarawa Eggon by yet to be identified gunmen  is still being held by his abductor in spite that the family members have raised the ransom from initial offer of N3.5m to N4m as at Thursday morning

Our correspondent also obtained  from the family Thursday that  commissioner’s abductors have slashed their initial demand of  N100m to N20M in a communication with the family members from their den.

It was also learnt that a team of anti-kidnapping squards  have  since been drafted to  Nasarawa Eggon in collaboration with the military Special Squards to ensure the release of the Commissioner from the den of his abductors.

A family member  Tanimu Yakubu   told  Vanguard that the abductors contacted the family at about 10:30am on Thursday informing the family that the ransom has been slashed from N100m to N20m.

“We have  offered the Kidnappers N4m,   but the abductors rejected the offer and switched off their mobile line. The abductors called  the family members at  10:30am this morning  and announced the  slashed of the ransom from N100 million to N20 million”

“We are worried that our brother has been in the bush for over four days. We are commending the security agencies for their relentless efforts at ensuring the release of our brother”Tanimu stated.

He however appealed to the authority concerned to step up there search mechanism for the prompt release of information commissioner.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations officer of the Nassarawa Command, DSP Ramhan Nansel confirmed the deployment of Anti Kidnapping and military Special Squards to the area to ensure the release of the state Commissioner of information, Culture and Tourism in the state.
