The Acorn Initiative, Founded by Benue -born United Kingdom based Mr John Igoche has put smiles on the faces of 22 Indigent Final Year Students of Government Girls Secondary School, Makurdi, Benue State by registering them for the 2021/2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Presenting a cheque of N396, 000 for all the selected beneficiaries, Mr Igoche who spoke through the Organisation’s Project Director, Benue Zone, Mrs Mary Ikwue decried the inability of parents to pay their children’s school fees due to difficulties associated with different reasons, saying It is based on the unfortunate situation that the Acorn Initiative decided to bridge the gap in the lives of the benefiting students.
“We are here to sponsor them for 2021/2022 WASSC. We hope that this support will go a long way to help them achieve their future dreams of becoming whatever they desire to be”.
The Founder of Acorn Initiative advised the students to stay focus so as to achieve their life endeavours; saying education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.
He charged the students to always remember that they can be whatever they want to be, achieve all their goals and dreams by believing in themselves and staying focused.
In her comment, the Principal of Government Girl’s Secondary School, Makurdi, Mrs Dorothy Ganyam thanked Acorn Initiative for the kind gesture to support the girls to further their education.
“It is not easy for a group of people to distinguish themselves and put their resources together to assist by way of charity. The Acorn Initiative has decided to do this. I appreciate the organisation for agreeing to sacrifice to support our students and I pray that God bless all of you abundantly for opting to do this charity to our girls”.
Speaking on behalf of the benefiting students, Miss Patience Enenche, said they lack words to thank the organisation for giving them hope and assured that they would concentrate on their studies in order to pass their WASSC Examination.
“We express our profound gratitude for this gesture. We are very happy and we pray to Almighty God to increase your resources to keep doing more for humanity”.
A parent, Mr Linus Ityo also lauded the scholarship programme of the organisation to students in need and commended the Founder, Mr John Ada Igoche and his team for the lessening the huge financial burden off them.
It would be recalled that in November, 2020, the Acorn Initiative granted scholarships to about 30 indigent final year Students of Mount Saint Gabriel’s Secondary School, Makurdi worth N.5 million during the 1st edition of the Acorn Initiative Library In Box Scholarship Programme.
