Benue State House of Assembly has granted approval for Governor Samuel Ortom to appoint two additional Special Advisers, even as former Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase is on the list of new advisers.
The House gave the approval during Thursday’s plenary following a request in a correspondence from the Governor signed by the secretary to the state government, Prof. Anthony Ijohor (SAN), and read by the speaker, Rt. Hon. Titus Uba.
The Governor through the correspondence explained that, given his commitment to the development of the state and in order to consolidate on the gains of his administration in its second tenure, he desires to bring on board people of proven integrity and competence to help drive development of Benue State.
The approval therefore, brings the total number of the Special Advisers to thirty two .
A bill for a law to establish the Benue State commission for peace and Reconciliation also Thursday, 21st April, 2022 enjoyed first reading at the floor of Benue State House of assembly.
The former Chief Press Secretary, Akase had resigned and joined the governorship race under the platform of the PDP but was knocked off by zoning policy which favoured Vandeikya local government area in Benue North West.
Akase has since congratulated the PDP stakeholders in the state for their fairness.
Governor Samuel Ortom had earlier said, he would reappoint Mr Akase if anther opportunity presents itself.
