Benue Assembly Receives 2022 Supplementary Budget Of N20bn

Benue State House of Assembly has received the 2022 supplementary budget of over twenty billion naira from Governor Samuel Ortom for consideration and approval.

The supplementary budget was presented to the House by the Majority leader, Hon. Damian Cheme during Tuesday’s plenary of 26th April, 2022.

Earlier while reading a correspondence from the Governor, the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Christopher Adaji who presided over the sitting explained that, the supplementary budget is to take care of increase in the cost of procuring goods and services and some critical projects that were not captured in the main budget.

The Deputy Speaker accordingly, referred the supplementary budget to the House Standing Committee on rules and business for further legislative processes.

A bill for a law to establish Benue State Commission for Peace and Reconciliation also on Tuesday enjoyed second reading and was referred to House Standing Committee on Local Government, security and chieftaincy Affairs for further legislative processes.

The House accordingly proceeded on recess to mark the end of the Third sitting of the Third legislative session to reconvene on the 1st of June, 2022 for the first sitting of the fourth legislative session.
