The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Mr. Titus Uba has declared his interest to contest for governorship seat in Benue State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 general election.
Making the declaration in Vandeikya local government area, Mr. Uba expressed appreciation to the people of Kunav for the opportunity given him to represent them at the State House of Assembly for two terms and promised that if given higher responsibility such as the Governor, he will serve people of Benue with the best of his ability.
According to lawmaker, his desire to contest for the number one seat in the state was to offer selfless service to the people by consolidating on the achievements of Governor Samuel Ortom, pledging to sustain the implementation of Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment law.
The Kyan representative said he has traversed the nook and crannies of the state and possessed the required experience to steer the ship of governance of the state and solicited their support to actualize his dreams.
In his Speech, the chairman of the occasion, Mr. Boniface Iornumbe and Guest speaker Alhaji Ibrahim Anor expressed happiness with the Speaker for considering his home as first point of contact, noting that Mr. Uba is a salable product given his wealth of experience both in private and public life.
According to Anor, many Kunav sons have indicated interest to run for the number one seat, stressing that they will look carefully and select the best among them that will face other aspirants for the position; warning that people of the area will not take it kindly with anyone that will go against the consensus arrangement being worked out.
In their separate remarks, the chairman of Jechira Gubernatorial committee, Engr. Tachia Jooji and PDP leader for Jechira, Mr. David Amo all extolled the leadership qualities of Mr. Uba at the assembly saying, if given higher responsibility, he would not disappoint the people.
Engr. Jooji stressed the need for unity and love among Kunav people for the emergence of one of their own to actualize their agenda of producing governor in 2023.
Earlier, the Chairman of Vandeikya local government council, Mrs Kukase Garba, the PDP chairman for Vandeikya, Mr. Thomas Gbatar and PDP woman leader, Mrs. Terna Gavar all pledged their support for the emergence of Kunav Governor in the 2023 general elections and thanked Mr. Uba over his boldness to be the first of their sons to officially declare his interest for such exotic position.
The Speaker was accompanied to the event by the Majority Leader of the 9th Benue Assembly, Rt. Hon. Demian Cheme, The majority Whip, Hon. Thomas Mlanga, Other Assembly members from zone ‘C’ amongst other dignitaries.
High point of the event was the presentation of Rt. Hon. Uba to PDP stakeholders in Tiev by PDP leaders from Kyan and dressing him in Tiv tradition attire by the leadership of PDP central youths as a sign of their support and blessings.
