Conflct: Neem Foundation Sensitizes Stakeholders OnThe Usage Of RSD Structure In Kaduna

Neem Foundation in collaboration with Karuna Centre for Peacebuilding, has sensitized stakeholders in Kaduna on the use of Reflective Structured Dialogue (RSD).

The foundation disclosed this in Kaduna recently, where it was also noted that the RSD method is to enhancing the gains of Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) through Community Ownership and Sustainability.

According to the District Liaison Officer (DLO) of NEM Foundation, Mujitaba Nasir, further explained that the objective of the peacebuilding stakeholders meeting was to further enlighten the EWERs Committee on the use of RSD structure to enhancing EWER through community participation.

The two days event which had 98 participants in attendance, were drawn from Sabon-Tasha, Maraban-Rido, Kujama, Kasuwan-Magani, Kajuru and Kafanna respectively.

While speaking, Mujitaba also explained that the important of the meeting is for the participants to adopt alternative dispute resolution in their various communities for peacebuilding.

“The two days workshop also discussed the narrative approach attempts and re-examining the traditional theories of conflict mediation by examining how the stories we tell (or discourses) about conflict; the interests, the positions and people’s selves influence, interpretations and understanding of conflicts and their potential solutions,” the DLO explained.

A participant, Hamza Muhammed, explained that the workshop was an eye opener, owing to the fact that an effective early warning system is a catalyst for policy making, conflict prevention and peace building.

” With this training majority of us now understand the important of early response to early warning,” he said.

Meanwhile, the participants recommended that: youths and women should be included in the decision making especially in the traditional institutions, while also calling for the establishment of RSD committee in every community.
