Governor Ortom eulogises ex – Benue ANA chairman for coming 2nd in international essay competition

Governor Samuel Ortom has congratulated the immediate past Chairman of the Association of Nigerian Authors ANA Benue State chapter, Dr. Charles Iornumbe for coming second in the International Human Rights Art Festival IHRAF essay competition.

The Governor who made the remarks on Saturday when the IHRAF Essay Award winner, Dr. Iornumbe presented the award certificate and the Anchor of ANA Benue award conferred on him by ANA Benue chapter, described the feat as well deserved.

Governor Ortom said the awardee had over time, proven to be a good creative writer as can be seen in his writings and stated that he expected nothing short of such outstanding performance in an international competition of that magnitude.

He said he was proud of Dr. Iornumbe whose performance in the competition has shown clearly to the outside World that Benue has got some young people ready to engage in noble ventures other than criminality to project their state in positive light.

The Governor assured of his administration’s readiness to continue to create the enabling environment for people to excel in whatever endeavour they had chosen for themselves, adding that, he looks forward to seeing many writers particularly products of the literary community in Benue participate in such competitions to come tops.

Earlier, the second winner of IHRAF essay competition Dr. Iornumbe who is also the Chairman of the Government House Press Crew, told the Governor that he was happy to have come second in his first attempt at an international literary competition with about a hundred entries from across the African Continent.

Dr. Iornumbe who also presented to the Governor the ‘Anchor of ANA Benue’ Award conferred on him by the State chapter of the Association, attributed success the literary body has recorded during his time for which he was found worthy of recognition to the enabling environment created by the Ortom administration.

He added that both the essay prize and the ANA Benue award would spur him to do more in the Nigerian book Industry and thanked Governor Ortom for showing interest in his creative endeavours.
