Ahead of the 2023 elections, the Presidential candidates of all the political parties have converged on Kaduna to seek the support of the people and party loyalists in the state.

First was the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar who had an interface with the Arewa Joint Committee during an interactive session.

While Atiku was at the Arewa House to woo the support of the committee, the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu was at the Murtala Square for the 7th edition of the Kaduna Investment Summit on Saturday.

While addressing party’s loyalists at the campaign ground in Kaduna on Monday, Atiku promised that if elected, he will finish the rehabilitation of Abuja/Kaduna /Kano high-way

He also pledged to revive dead or moribund manufacturing industries if he becomes the next president in 2023.

The Presidential Candidate thanked the people of the state for their unflinching support in 2019, saying, ‘You gave me the highest number of votes in 2019 and I believe you will do so this time around.

“I have come here on behalf of PDP to tell you If you vote for us, we will end insecurity in Kaduna. We will revive the industries in Kaduna in partnership with the private sector of Kaduna.”

Atiku also spoke on the attempt to disrupt the rally by suspected APC thugs where he called on President Buhari to call their supporters and members to order.

He said the call became necessary in view of his persistent call to have free, fair and safe elections.

Also speaking, the vice-presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa, noted that the south is ready to vote for PDP and Atiku come 2023 following the success of the party in the recent gubernatorial election in Osun.

“I thank God for the life of Atiku who has a solution to the problem we have in Nigeria. With Atiku as president, we should not go to bed hungry and He is ready to end insecurity in Northern Nigeria.

“Those of us in the south-south, southeast, southwest are ready to vote Atiku and the PDP, ” he stressed.

Earlier, the Director General of the campaign council, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal stated that attempts to disrupt the rally will fail.

According to him, “they do not want us to continue with our rallies because they are not prepared.

While addressing the mammoth crowd the state chairman of the party Felix Hassan Hyat, lamented how the the APC-led government frustrated their efforts to use the Ahmadu Bello stadium which was earlier slated to be the venue of the event.

“The Minister of Sports denied our party the opportunity to use the facility despite applying for it more than seven days to the date of the rally.”

Hyat contended that they cannot be intimidated by the antics of the ruling APC government both at the state and federal levels.

The Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Organisation, yesterday, said Nigeria did not need a leader, whose idea of development was to move the country from a rotten to a bad state. It was a reference to the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The campaign team of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, alleged that Tinubu represented the greatest threat to national cohesion and democratic norms. It dismissed allegations by APC that the PDP presidential candidate was playing ethnic politics, saying in a statement by one of its spokespersons, Kola Ologbondiyan, that the ruling party’s comments best describes Tinubu.

Meanwhile, the candidate of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu during an interaction with the Arewa Joint Committee held on Monday said that, he will consolidate on the vision of the founding fathers of the country such as Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa to build one indivisible and prosperous nation shared on the values of patriotism, equity, justice and brotherhood.

While speaking, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu further explained that a safe environment is the bedrock of prosperity, just as he said that security is a function of resources.

“I am committed to mobilising all assets within our National power to secure Nigeria. We did this in Lagos through many initiatives, especially the Security Trust Fund, through which we address many needs of our security forces that have helped to sanitize Lagos State today.”

He also pledged that if elected the president of the nation come 2023, he will address the welfare and training needs of the security personnel and strengthen the security institutions with modern technology and equipment to better position the security to respond to modern challenges that we face in a fast changing world.

On his economic plan, Tinubu also said that Nigeria is sitting on a gold mine with abundant natural resources adding that with strategic investment in research and development: effective management will explore and exploit the resources to the fullest.

According to him, there is no local government in Nigeria that has no resources or endowment that cannot be harnessed for greater economic development, saying that the major economic challenges are under investment and effective management, promising that if elected that will be his priority.

“Our economic plan would utilize the vast natural resources we have through strategic investment in infrastructure that will lead to the diversification of the economy and wealth creation across the entire country.

“We will pay attention to modern economic drivers such as the digital economy, creative industries, sport and entertainment sectors for the benefit of our young people.

“The APC federal government has taken several measures to build infrastructure and improve the ease of doing business across the country. This has been complimented by some of our states to attract investment in diverse sectors of the economy. ”

Speaking on the power sector, the presidential candidate of APC explained further that if elected, he will support any willing state to develop and generate its own power, saying that such has been demonstrated in his pioneering developments of independent power projects in Lagos State.
