Kaduna NUJ Chair, Asma’u Welcomed With Fanfare, Bags Another Award

Kaduna State Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Chairman, Comrade Asma’u Yawo Halilu, has just bagged another honour.

Asma’u received the renowned prestigious award of excellence in Kaduna on Wednesday.

The award, being the fourth to be received this year by the NUJ Chairman, was given in recognition of Asmau’ s excellent contributions to the advancement of the Union and humanity.

The presenter of the award, the state Coordinator of Freedom for Humanity International Foundation, Muhammad Bello Abubakar lauded Asmau’s achievements and the important role she has played in the development of the Union, Kaduna state and the country as a whole.

While speaking, Abubakar averred that the NUJ Chairman alongside other awardees have sacrificed so much of their time, wealth and energy to equate perfect balance, and making difference in the life of others.

“These people have made an impact, leaving a legacy of converting pain to joy, sorrow to happiness and disappointment to hope,” the Coordinator said.

Responding to the honour, Asma’u said that the award will spur her and the other executive members to be more focused, dedicated, especially on the issues of women and children who are mostly helpless.

This is just as she said that the Kaduna NUJ and her members will always defend the rights of the downtrodden.

Others on the list of the awardees are: Pastor Yohanna Buru, Hajia Bilkisu Musa Yakubu, Sheikh Musa Asadunnah, Comrade Mustapha Haruna Khalifah, Barr. Tajudeen Oladoja SAN, Engr. Usman Musa, Barr. Abubakar Abdullahi Ashad and Alkali Muhammad Nasir.
