The People’s Democratic Party’s stakeholders under the auspices of the PDP Vision Movement, has debunked the rumour making the rounds that the gubernatorial candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Isa Ashiru had signed an agreement with the leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to allocate 80 per cent of political appointments in Kaduna to the Association, if he emerges.

The group called on the public to disregard the allegation, adding that it is an attempt to further divide the state along religious lines by some politicians who do not mean well for the state.

This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the Board of Trustees members of the group, Jamilu Umar Galadima and Salisu Aliyu Dan-Shehu, and made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Thursday.

In the statement, the duo challenged those behind the spreading of what they described as rumour to provide evidence to back their claims, or to stop making fools of themselves in the name of politics.

“It is disheartening to note that even some religious leaders are also aiding the spread of falsehood that is capable of misleading the innocent people of the state, and creating tension in the state.

“As stakeholders who strongly believe not only in the unity of Kaduna but, the nation, and this being the reason why we are calling on these politicians and their cohort to desist from this falsehood that is capable of causing separation and hatred amongst the good people of Kaduna state.

“We are not surprised that some politicians especially within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are sponsoring falsehood against the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, and this is because, it is clear that the Kaduna people have resolved to return PDP back to power in the state, going by the popular votes of the people for the party at the last elections.”

The group therefore called on the people of Kaduna state to remain calm, and not to allow themselves to be used by some religious leaders and politicians for their selfish interest at the detriment of the public.

“It is on this note that we are calling on the good people of Kaduna state to come out en-mass on the 18th of March, 2023, as rescheduled by INEC for the governorship and state assembly elections to vote Isa Ashiru alongside other PDP candidates in the interest of the state,” the statement reads.
