Herdsmen suspected to be Fulani who had been dislodged from other states on Friday allegedly attacked a farmer at his farm house and macheted him at Home Community in Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State and removed two of his hands with the cutlass.
An eye witness who confirmed the ugly incident to Journalists said the victim was at his farm working when he saw Fulani herdsmen invade his crops, and in the process of telling the herdsmen to leave the farm, the victim was attacked by them.
An eye witness who narrowly escaped attacked narrated that,” We were in the farm when we saw herdsmen grazing on the victim farm in the process of asking them to leave the farm, then we saw them make calls unknowingly to us we saw their men with Cutlass following us and the victim fell down in the process of running for safety when they cut two of his hands.”
At the time of filing this report efforts to reach the victim’s family proved abortive.
Our correspondent gathered that the community has arrested one of the attackers and handed him over to Police for immediate action. Our correspondent also gathered that the victim who is by name Mr Gambo Ambi has been taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention.
Meanwhile the police public relations officer Nasarawa state command Ramhan Namsel, said “This incident is true but it was not two hands severed. The left hand of the victim was severed from his wrist while a finger was severed on his right hand. The victim has been taken to the hospital for treatment, three (3) suspects have been arrested in connection to the crime and investigation is ongoing,” he said.
