The new Director General, who met with management staff of the corporation, said his target was to ensure that the station reaches a wider audience and promised to encourage staff to carry out special reports to ensure that the Government was aware of the challenges people were passing through at the grassroots.

He promised to ensure that staff of the corporation keep to the professional ethics towards ensuring balance and objectivity in reporting; assuring of training and retraining of staff at the Radio Nigeria Broadcast Academy in Lagos to improve on their knowledge.

According to the Director General, he would encourage team spirit and discourage anything that would promote sectionalism and ethnicity, pointing out that any staff found wanting would be sanctioned to serve as a deterrent to others.

He also promised to encourage management staff of the station to put in more efforts for the growth of the Corporation and thanked them for the warm reception accorded him.

The erstwhile Benue People’s House correspondent expressed hope that Governor Samuel Ortom would soon procure a transmitter and other equipment to boost the Station’s coverage and appreciated the Governor for finding him worthy to serve the state in that capacity.

“I will improve on the internally generated revenue and block all leakages to stale the overdependence on government for funds; pledging not to betray the confidence reposed in him.”

Responding on behalf of Management Staff, the Director News and Current Affairs, Mr. Igba Ogbole, expressed excitement over the appointment of Dr Iornumbe as the Director General, noting that change was the only constant thing in life, pointing out that each time there was change, it brings new hope for better things.

He expressed confidence in the capacity of the new Dr. Iornumbe as an insider to handle the affairs of Radio Benue in a manner that would be pleasing to Benue people.

Mr. Ogbole assured the D.G that staff would work with him sincerely for the collective success of his tenure and commended Governor Ortom for appointing one of Radio family as the new Director General.

Earlier, Reverend Father Osbert Viashima who led two other priests to bless the Director General’s office, prayed to God to see him through his tenure that will be worthy of reference.

He charged him to carry all the staff along in the course of duty and always involve God so as to surmount any challenges on the way.
