NGOs Train School Age Children On Menstrual Hygiene In Kaduna

Non Governmental Organisations ( NGOs ) under the aegies of Praise Women for All Nations and the Rose of Sharon Foundation have trained no fewer than 200 school age children on menstrual hygiene in Kaduna.

Speaking to newsmen at the event, the President General of Praise Women for All Nations, Dr. Funbi Fred Addo, explained that educating girls about menstrual hygiene helps increase self esteem, raise grades and wages.

Mrs. Addo, while speaking, she urged the participants to take serious all knowlege learnt from the training and to ensuring that their menstrual circle must be properly taken care of.

In their seperate remarks, the Country Manager for the Rose of Sharon Foundation, Dr. Ndudi Bowai and the North Zonal Leader of Daughters-In-Diaspora, Mrs. Felicia Joseph streesed the need for a girl child to understand what menstrual hygiene is all about.

According to them, “learning about menstrual hygiene empowers girls to take care of themselves in brand new ways, and this being the reason for the training”.

The Northwest zonal coordinator; the Rose of Sharon Foundation, Rose Adejo disclosed that over 200 sanitary pads were distributed to the participants who are mainly students of Queen Amina’s College in Kaduna.

She also explained that seven widows were empowered with the sum of forty thousand naira each, which according to her, the gesture is to alleviate thier suffering.

” Since 2018 children of 10 widows were being sponsored to schools, while six orphans have also been sponsored on their education,” Miss Adejo said.

Earlier, the Deputy Director Public Health Department, Ministry of Health, Kaduna state, Habiba Jibril who educated the students on menstrual hygiene said when they ( women ) know that they have reliable and hygienic solutions to absorb or collect their menstrual flow it gives them confidence to live their lives normally.

The training was in conjuction with Daughters-In-Dispora.
