Ortom Signs 2022 Appropriation Bill Into Law

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue has signed the 2022 budget of N155.6 billion into law.

Performing the ceremony at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi last Friday, the governor promised to adhere strictly to the provisions of the budget.

“I will not do anything outside of the provisions of the budget.
Even if the state needs additional funds we will recourse to the assembly for virement or supplementary budget,” he said.

He said that his duty was to implement all the laws passed by the assembly to the latter and commended the harmonious working relationship between the three arms of government which he noted led the success recorded by his administration so far.

The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly Mr. Titus Uba said, the budget passed is with recurrent expenditure of over ninety eight point seven Billion naira with capital expenditure of fifty six point eight billion naira while deficit financing stood at twenty billion naira.

He commended the resilience of his colleagues to state matters and promised that the 9th Benue Assembly will ensure full implementation of the budget to the benefit of Benue People.

While wishing Nigerians and Christian community a peaceful Christmas celebration, urged for forgiveness and love for one another as the country is marching towards the 2023 general election to choose new leaders for the country.
