Police Confirm 10 Killed, 30 Houses Burnt in Plateau State

Plateau state police command, have confirmed the death of ten persons in the Thursday night attack in a community in Bassa local government area of Plateau state. Spokesman of the command ASP Ubsh Gabriel Ogabah said ten persons were killed in the attack with 30 houses burnt.

It reads “commissioner of Police Plateau State Command, CP Bartholomew N. Onyeka, psc(+), immediately drafted a tactical team of the Command to the scene to avert further attack. Unfortunately, ten (10) persons were killed and about thirty (30) houses set ablaze by the attackers.”

Plateau state governor Simon Lalong expressed worries over the attacks, vowing that perpetrators must be arrested and prosecuted. A press release issued by the Director of Press and public affairs Dr. Makut Simon Macham Friday said, governor Lalong is saddened by the development.

Governor Lalong tasked security operatives to fish out the perpetrators. “I expect the security agencies to deploy everything at their disposal to arrest those who carried out the crime no matter how long it takes.”

He stressed that “the persistent attacks in this general area remain condemnable and unacceptable to the Government. As such, no resources and efforts will be spared in painstakingly following up on the trail of those who derive joy in attacking and killing innocent citizens and destroying their homes and means of livelihoods.  Government will not take any excuse for failure to achieve this directive.”

The statement said governor Lalong commiserated with the victims and families of those killed, assured that they will get justice as the Government will stop at nothing to unravel those behind these ugly incidents that continue to disrupt the livelihoods of the people of the Local Government.

The incident occurred at Ta’agbe village of Miango district in Bassa Local Government Council of the state, Thursday night.
