The Nasarawa State Government has confirmed the carting away of N11.7 million by armed robbers at the state ministry of Finance, Budget and Planning.
The State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Dogo Shammah stated this in a statement made available to our correspondent in Lafia the Nasarawa State capital.
Mr Dogo Shammah said the gunmen trailed officials of the state Ministry of Finance, Budget and Planning after making withdrawals at a second generation bank along Lafia -Jos road  and carted away the cash while shooting sporadically on reaching the ministry.
According to the commissioner, the money was meant to host a team from the Revenue, Mobilization,  Allocation and Fiscal Commission which was due to visit the state as well as furnishing and refurbishing offices and vehicles.
He explained that the purported carting away of N100 million meant for payment of salaries for casual workers reported in some sections of the media was not true.
Mr.Dogo Shammah however pointed out that the incident had been reported to security agencies and investigation had commenced.
