…Confident in New CP’s Banditry Fight

The Sokoto State Government has reiterated its resolve to ensure that the State is rid of banditry and all forms of criminal elements, and expresses confidence in the capacity of the new Commissioner of Police to contribute meaningfully towards achieving this objective.

Furthermore, the State Government calls on all residents of Sokoto State to continue to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information, while remaining law-abiding and vigilant.

Col. Ahmed Abdul Usman (Rtd), Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Sokoto State, stated this in a statement issued on Tuesday, March 31.

According to him, the Government remains fully committed to providing the necessary logistical support and enabling environment required for security agencies to discharge their constitutional responsibilities effectively.

“Sustained peace and security, it emphasises, are collective responsibilities”.

It stated further that the announcement and formally acknowledged the assumption of duty by the newly posted Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, who resumed office on Monday, in line with the ongoing efforts to strengthen security and safeguard lives and property across the State.

“On behalf of the Government and the good people of Sokoto State, the Special Adviser to His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Aliyu, on Security Matters, Colonel Ahmed Abdul Usman (Rtd), extends profound appreciation to the outgoing Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Musa, who has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General (AIG), for his exemplary service, commitment, and professionalism throughout his tenure in the State”.

It noted that the outgoing Commissioner demonstrated commendable leadership and dedication in confronting security challenges, particularly in the fight against banditry and related criminal activities.

Accordingly, CP Usman’s tenure witnessed enhanced coordination among security agencies and notable progress in stabilising affected communities.

The Sokoto State Government acknowledges these contributions and wishes him continued success in his future assignments.

The Government warmly welcomes the new Commissioner of Police and enjoins him to build on the gains already recorded.

He is encouraged to deploy his expertise, experience, and strategic capabilities towards strengthening operational effectiveness, deepening community policing, and intensifying efforts to decisively combat banditry, kidnapping, and all forms of criminality within the State.

Colonel Ahmed Abdul Usman (Rtd) assures the new Commissioner of the unwavering support and cooperation of the Sokoto State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Aliyu.
