ST. Hon, SAN, Seeks Support For The Growth Of Benue Varsity

Member, Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee, and Pro- Chancellor, Benue state University Makurdi, Chief Sebastine Tar Hon, SAN has called on staff of the  University to give maximum support to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Tor Iorapuur and the entire management to succeed.

Chief Hon disclosed this in Gboko When he played host to his kinsmen under the auspices of Forum of Mbayion Staff, Benue State University Makurdi and Mbayion Past & Present Councilors Forum.

In a statement signed by his aide Terkimbi Iorshe, and email to our correspondent, the groups visited the learned Silk to congratulate him on his appointment as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Benue State University Makurdi.

Recall that, the Executive Governor of Benue State, Dr Samuel Ortom on July 29, 2021 appointed Chief. Sebastine Tar Hon, SAN as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of Benue State University Makurdi. He takes over from Prof. Zachary Gundu who is now the vice Chancellor, University of Mkar, in Gboko Benue state.

Chief Hon who spoke to the groups separately described the visits as symbolic and Spiritually enriching added that, he was happy and proud of their visit.

While thanking God and the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom for finding him worthy of the appointment, S.T. Hon promised to be transparent and honest in the  discharge of his duties, even as he assured them, that he will be open to welcome meaningful suggestions that can help turn the fortunes of the University around.

Leader of the Forum, Jeremiah Agbindah described the appointment as “laudable” noting that it was “well deserved”. He said their visit was to Congratulate and pray with Hon for God’s  guidance and blessings as he settle down to discharge his duties. They presented a Tiv version of the Holy Bible to the Chairman of Council.

In a similar development, third tier legislators under the aegis of Mbayion Past & Present Councilors Forum, led by Hon. Ngutsav Jirgba said the forum was delighted to know of Hon’s laudable appointment, which according to him bears an eloquent testimony to his widely known academic excellence,  competence, credibility, integrity and managerial skills which have been visibly demonstrated in various national responsibilities he served creditably.

Francis Aveir expressed optimism that Hon’ s valued experience will make the Benue Varsity to maintain it’s position as a citadel of excellence.

The legislators pledge to sustain prayers and support for the  Pro-Chancellor to succeed even as they thanked Governor Samuel Ortom for appointing their brother to Chair the Varsity Governing Council. They encouraged Hon to maintain the standard of service that has earned him the appointment.

Highlight of both visits featured session of Thanksgiving prayers  for Chief. Sebastine Tar Hon, SAN.

Those who witnessed the events included Hon. Anjie Silas , Hon. Awambe Abua , Hon. Saaku Iortim Saaku , Hon. Cosmas Hon who are Governor Ortom’s aides.

Others included Accountant Simon Shinku, Dr. Steve Ivase  Hon. Terwase Iorhule, Supol Simon Anum among others.
