The Kebbi Police Command foiled bandits’ attack on commuters along Zogirma/Tilli road in Bunza LGA of the state at the weekend who were attempting to kidnap commuters plying the road.
The State Command, Public Relations Officers, CSP Nafiu Abubakar in a statement issued on Saturday and made available to newsmen explained that on 11th July, 2025, at about 1900 hrs, information received revealed that suspected Lakurawa bandits were sighted in a forest.
CSP Abubakar explained further that on receipt of the report, the Zogirma Divisional Police Officer promptly mobilised a team of Policemen and rushed to the scene with reinforcement from No 36 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Birnin Kebbi.
“Upon arrival, the combined team of Policemen engaged the suspected Lakurawa bandits in a fierce gun duel. As a result, several suspected Lakurawa bandits were neutralised while others escaped to the nearby forest with fatal injuries. Regrettably, three (3) brave Police Officers lost their lives during the encounter,” the statement reads.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani commended the resilience, bravery and sacrifice of the fallen officers and prayed for their gentle souls to have an eternal rest.
The CP further reiterated the Command’s commitment towards ensuring the safety and security of the people of the State.
This is just as he equally called on the residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest Police station for prompt response.
