Senator Uba Sani, has called for a change of strategies by relevant security agencies to effectively fight terrorism, banditry and other forms of insecurity across Nigeria, particularly in Kaduna State
In a motion raised at the floor of the Upper Chamber over the Monday’s night attack that drew widespread condemnations, the Kaduna Central Legislator cited relevant Orders 41 and 51 seeking the leave of the Senate to move a motion on bandits’ attacks on Abuja – Kaduna train and in some other parts of the state.
The Kaduna Governorship aspirant in the forthcoming 2023 General election lamented the increased frequency of attacks on hapless rural communities whom he noted had been subjected to indescribable agony, loss of lives and source of livelihoods.
He disclosed that over 50 persons were killed and 100 others kidnapped in a spate of three days in rural communities across Igabi and Giwa Local Government Areas which he stated formed part of his constituency of Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone.
The Senator said he thought with the declaration of bandits as terrorists peace would return but unfortunately, he lamented that the reverse was the case with upsurge in terrorism – related incidents that resulted in loss of lives and increasing the number of internally displaced persons.
He wondered how a sane human being would derail a passenger train and pump bullets into people, including women and children and abduct hundred others in a manner devoid of compassion.
The Senator challenged security agencies to adopt an effective method of fighting terrorism away from the usual means used, declaring that the senseless loss of lives must be stopped by all means possible so Nigerians could travel and go about their legitimate businesses without fear nor hindrance.
He condoled families of those who lost their lives, asking for God’s consolation in their time of grief and prayed for quickest freedom of the abductees.
