The All Progressives Congress (APC) from Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have rejected the outcome of the July 31 wards congresses in the area.
The stakeholders led by Alhaji Zakari Shuaibu, Chairmanship aspirant in the recently conducted primaries of the party preparatory to the October 6 LG elections and Suleiman Zuburu stated this while reading a copy of the complaint to newsmen in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.
Mr Suleiman Zuburu who spoke on behalf of the group alleged that the speaker Nasarawa state house of Assembly ,Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, Member Nasarawa state house of Assembly representing Toto /Gadabuike, hon. Labaran Usman Shafa, Sani Osaze Director General Of Nasarawa pension Board, all from Toto LG. had hijacked the process in violation to the rules and guidelines of the Congress by the party.
He explained that they just sat down in Lafia and compiled a list of their loyalists and submitted them to the party.
“They retained all ward officials that supported their imposed Chairmanship candidate in the recently held primaries and removed the names of those that voted for other candidates. They replaced the names removed with their relatives in all the 12 electoral wards in Toto,” he added.
He explained that they completely sidelined and suppressed the peace loving people of Toto LGA and denied them participation in the congresses contrary to the directive by Governor Abdullahi Sule and the party leadership in the state.
He therefore appealed to the governor to intervene and ensure that the party members are carried along in the best interest of the party. He also appealed to leadership of the party in the state to cancel the congresses of Toto and carry out thorough investigation to ascertain the truth with a view of correcting it.
Meanwhile the Nasarawa state Acting chairman of All Progressive Congress APC, Dr John Mamman has exonerated the Speaker, Nasarawa state house of Assembly,Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, Member Nasarawa state house of Assembly representing Toto /Gadabuike, hon. Labaran Usman Shafa and others who were accused of imposition of candidates.
The chairman stated this while reacting to the press conference addressed by some stakeholders of Toto local government led by the campaign co-ordinator of Alhaji Zakari Shuaibu, Alhaji Suleiman Zubairu ( big boss) accusing the speaker and others during the APC primary election and ward Congress alleging that they were sidelined during the exercise.
Mamman further stated that “all the Toto stakeholders met and agreed that the chairmanship candidate of the party should be zoned to Gadabuike development Area, hence the former chairman of the local government came from Toto/ Umaisha development Area”.
He said he was yet to receive a complaint from Toto local government as regards to the issue at stake, but he knows as a fact that Toto local government was one of the local governments in the state that agreed on consensus, in which a chairmanship candidate and Ward officials were chosen and agreed upon by all the stakeholders in the local government.
The APC Acting chairman therefore appealed to all aggrieved persons to forward their complaints to the appropriate channels for action.
