Zero Malària Campaign: SFH, Kaduna SMoH To Distribute 5 Million ITNs In Kaduna

The Kaduna Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Society for Family Health (SFH), and Catholic Relief Service (CRS), have disclosed that over five million Insecticide Treated Nets (ITNs) will be distributed to the residents of Kaduna state.

According to SFH, the objective of the ITN mass campaign is to ensure that for every two persons in Kaduna state have one bed net to sleep inside.

Speaking during a Media Parley in Kaduna on Wednesday, the Director, Technical and Programmes (SFH), John Ocholi, explained that a total of 5, 471,028 will be benefitting from the ITN in the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.

According to him, ” simultaneously, household registration and distribution of nets will commence from 7th to 18th July, 2022. Households must ensure that they leave somebody at home within this period to collect nets.”

The mass campaign is led by the Kaduna State Ministry of Health and Kaduna state Primary Health Care Development Agency (KSPHCDA) with the technical support of Society for Family Health, other Partners and National Malaria Elimination Progrmme (NMEP) providing coordination and oversight.

While speaking, the state health educator, Kaduna State Ministry of Health, Maryam Kure, urged journalists to give the necessary coverage for the realization of the zero malaria campaign in Kaduna.

She explained that the media parley was to motivate journalists in Kaduna state to develop interest in the campaign against malaria.

According to Mrs. Kure, the distribution of ITN will be done on door-to-door basis across all the 23 LGAs of the state.
