8 Women Fall Victim of ‘Gang’ Rape in South Africa

South Africa

President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa

A group of criminals broke into the location of a music video and assaulted many women there. The rape attacks in Krugersdorp has horrified much of South Africa.

According to reports, twenty men covered in Basotho blankets and balaclavas fired multiple bullets into the air.

That compelled everyone to collapse.

A production team was shooting a music video on Thursday when they were ambushed by a group of armed individuals, according to police spokesperson Brenda Muridili.

The women were then violated in the surrounding bushes.

The offenders are thought to be Zama Zamas, and recently, hostilities between the gang and South African citizens have gotten worse.

Zama-zamas are a well-organised gang operating in the broader illicit gold industry, worth billions of rands, which has left communities living in constant fear.

President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa has spoken out.

“Communities across the country live in fear. What I’ve heard from Comrade Bheki Cele, just a minute ago, about West Village [in Krugersdorp]… is a manifestation of how Gender-Based Violence spreads. This conference must come up with ways to support women.”
