The embattled Speaker of the Plateau state House of Assembly Rt Hon Abok Ayuba, has said the purported impeachment of his person is illegal, unconstitutional, therefore can not stand.
The speaker stated this Thursday, shortly after he presided over an emergency sitting of the house which it was gathered took place at the Plateau Youth Center, he said the earlier purported sitting of seven members who allegedly impeached him can’t be accepted.
Abok thanked the legislature for passing a vote of confidence in his leadership style.
It was gathered that during the sitting, the Plateau state House of Assembly had passed a vote of confidence on it Speaker, Mr Abok Ayuba.
Chairman House committee on Information Philip Dasun, an APC member told Journalists in an interview shortly after the emergency sitting.
Hon Dasun, reiterated that the purported impeachment of Rt Hon Abok Ayuba as Speaker of the state Assembly was illegal, and unacceptable.
He revealed that the House of Assembly have suspended six members of the state Assembly including the purported newly elected Speaker Sanda Yakubu.
The suspension of the said lawmakers according to the chairman House committee on Information is indefinite until further notice.
Hon Dasun also said the Thursday sitting of the state Assembly was to screen commissioner nominees, but could not hold due to obvious reasons.
He maintained that the emergency sitting was presided over by Rt Hon Abok Ayuba as Speaker of the state Assembly, with 12 present.
