Nigerian singer, songwriter and ex-Mr Universe, Slami Ifeanyi, is dead.
According to reports gathered the singer was reportedly shot dead by unknown gunmen in Anambra State on Sunday.
In a video that made the rounds on social media on Tuesday, the lifeless body of the singer is seen hanging from the car in a pool of blood. The singer was said to be driving alone in his Lexus car when he was attacked and killed at Umubere in Awka, the state capital.
It was also gathered that the former Mr Anambra Universe just acquired the Lexus 330 two weeks ago.
A close friend of the artiste who spoke about the incident alleged that the attack against the singer was targeted.
“He was driving his new car which he bought just two weeks ago when it happened. Although we don’t know why he was attacked it looks like a targeted attack,” he said.
Slami was a Nigerian music artiste who was known for his extraordinary sound, a mixture of Afro Pop, High life & RnB, which he used to entertain his fans.
On Facebook a user identified as Nwanya Brnard said, “This again tore me apart! Dude was my man from way back, hardworking, focused talented handsome dude. And today I hear he is gone, all because Nigeria failed you.
“The monster instituted by a failed system is eating up the future ambassadors. Slami Ifeanyi of St Rita’s Hostel! RIP buddy. Soon! We will take back our country.”
Apart from singing, Slami was a model, actor, and founder of the SLAMI EMPIRE, which organised ANAMBRA GOT TALENT.
