UNIPC Inaugurates Nigeria Peace Council Coordinators

The Eminent Peace Ambassador and Secretary General of the United Nations International Peace Volunteer Council (Universal Peace Federation, World Dialogue Council & Universal Peace Council), His Excellency Ambassador (Prof.) Babalola Muyiwa has inaugurated the Peace Council Coordinators in all the States and Local Government Areas of Southern and Western regions of Nigeria.

The Inauguration which took place at Merit House in Abuja on Thursday was attended by some dignitaries like the Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello represented by His Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Muhammed Idris, the Eminent Peace Ambassador and Former Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta /Coordinator Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brig. Gen. Paul Terela Boroh (Rtd), Secretary General of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), Dr. George Ikpot represented by Ambassador Margaret Kikunda and others.

In the words of the UNIPC Secretary General, “if we all understand that we need to live well with one another, Nigeria will be a better place for all”.

Babalola stated that , everyone should work together for the unity of Nigeria. Therefore, Peace Council in Nigeria is an initiative that will drive and move the country to peaceful and harmonious society.

The Governor Abubaka Sani Bello of Niger State through his Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Muhammed Idris said that His Excellency is a lover of peace in all ramification and also said that inaugurating Peace Council members across the States in Nigeria came at the right time and talking about peace today is all about action to sustainable development and congratulated the newly appointed Coordinators.

According to Brig.Gen.Paul Boroh (Rtd) who highlighted factors that promote peace that includes seeking understanding, promoting economic and social stability, Advocating for equality, and choosing democratic principles. He also stated further that gathering for inauguration of peace council in Nigeria is not the main target, but also to create a public awareness on the need and the importance of a sustainable peace among Nigerians, Africans and the World at large.

Moreover, peace can only be achieved, if people can respect each other views. Peace provides a valuable opportunity to access our progress. When people start to respect others feelings and their religion, people starts to develop in that religion, without peace, there is no development.
Furthermore, peace is a secret pin-code that can open up the avenue of success, prosperity and progress in life among others.
