Women Friendly Initiative (WFI) a none governmental organization, headed by Dr. Francis Eremuta has task stakeholders in Nasarawa state to prevail on council chairmen to release funds budgeted for adolescents and youth health care.
Paul Aondofa Uche, the Program Manager, WFI-SCALE project stated this at a one day sensitisation and interactive session on the need for budgetary allocation for adolescents and youth health care with stakeholders on Thursday in Lafia.
He said in Lafia WFI was partnering with family health care foundation Initiative (FHCI), and supported by United States Agency International Development (USAID) through Polladium.
The project was taking place in six states which include: Nasarawa, Ebonyi Benue, Plateau, Kwara and Abuja.
The project manager explained that of the two local governments to benefit from adolescent and youth health care program in Nasarawa state, including Lafia and Akwanga, Lafia LG had already approved the budget of N7.5 million naira for the implementation of the program in the area, hence the call for the release of the funds.
He said stakeholders were key to to the success of the project owing to their dual role as parents and opinion leaders. He urged the local government directors of health and head of primary health facilities to ensure judicious use of the funds when released.
Some of the stakeholders who spoke at the event expressed hope that the funds when released and put to judicious use, will improve the health care system of adolescents and youth in the area.
