The Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State University, KASU, Prof. Abdullahi Musa has said his vision for the University is to become a leading institution in the region and globally.
As contained in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Kaduna by the PRO of KASU Adamu Nuhu Bargo recently.
According to the statement, the Vice Chancellor disclosed this during the three days retreat the Management of the Institution organised for its committee members and representatives of the various unions and other stakeholders held at Fifth Chucker Resort Auditorium.
In his speech on a paper titled Transforming KASU: What it is, why it’s important now and How to Increase the Chances of Successful Implementation, the VC said why he wants the University to be a leading institution of choice regionally and globally is as a result of the underlying philosophy of excellence in research, teaching, community services, and excellence in all parameters of sustainable development.
“Our goal at KASU is crystal clear. It is to create an environment on campus that will allow scholars to come up with solutions to societal challenges. Our task is to build a culture on campus that encourages each lecturer and every member of non-teaching staff to make a positive difference in Kaduna State, Nigeria, and the world,” he said.
Prof. Musa said that the objective of the retreat is to provide a foundation for re-engineering and repositioning the university as a key player in education.
The retreat with the theme: Repositioning KASU for Global Competitiveness has facilitators such as Mallam Umar Kawu, a senior leadership and management consultant/pharmacist who handled the first session: Ailing Agency: Symptoms, Diagnosis and Treatment.
While Prof. Nasirdeen Usman, mni, a Professor of Law and a trained lawyer by profession handled the second session with the title Policy and Legal Frameworks for achieving a World Class University status in Nigeria.
