The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Hawlaab Media Training and Research Centre (HMTRC), Abdulwaheed Olayinka Adubi, has enjoined Nigerian youths to use their population to usher in new breed leaders in the coming elections.

“The democratic institutions and the nation’s democratic processes would only be more vibrant and stronger if the youths who constitute the largest population of the country are interested in the politics of the country,” Adubi said.

Adubi made the call in a statement titled: ” Youths Participation in Politics; Roadmap to Good Governance”.

He stressed that the era of rotating political power amongst old politicians who could not proffer solution to the nation’s problems should be put to an end.

According to him, the inability and lukewarm attitude of the politicians to providing good governance is the bane of the nation’s political and economic woes. He urged the youths, especially professionalsb who are blessed with the capacity to change the narratives for better to develop interest in politics.

Adubi, who berated Nigerian politicians of not living up to expectation of the people, said it has become obvious that politicians were now taking advantage of women and youths who had not fully shown interest in politics by taking the bull by the horn.

” After many years of civil rule, Nigeria is yet to attain the desired level of infrastructural development, political status, and reducing the level of poverty of her citizenry despite the numerous resources both in human and natural that the nation is endowed with. And until when the youths, especially the responsible ones beging to participate fully in the politics of the country, the nation may not attain the desired level,” he emphasized.

Adubi advised that the youths should not allow themselves to be used for thuggery, before, during and after the forthcoming general elections. Instead they should be party to free, fair and credible elections, which according to him is one of the solutions to good governance.
