The Northwest zone wing of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has frowned at the invasion of the residences of the immediate past Governor of Zamfara state, Dr. Bello Matawalle by the police and the operatives of the DSS.

The party described the incident as an act of lawlessness, saying that, it is an attempt to witch-hunt the out-gone Governor and some of the government officials who served the state diligently in the last four years with Matawalle by the present administration of PDP in the state.

While addressing the press at the zonal secretariat of the party in Kaduna on Friday, the Zonal Publicity Secretary, Musa Mailafia Mada condernmed in totality what he described as an act of vandalisation.

According to the Zonal Publicity Secretary, “the act carried out in Gusau and Maradun residences of the immediate past Governor was in total violation of section 34, 35, 37, 41 and 42 of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.

“Our enquiries as regards to the invasions at the said residences of Matawalle confirmed that the invasion was carried out without any warant served or presented by the operatives of the police and DSS before carrying out the act.

“On this note, we want to call on the Inspector General of Police and Department of the State Security to as a matter of urgency investigate the matter and brought to book the perpetrators. This is because, if the matter is not being investigated, hoodlums may wear uniform and attacked perceived enemies in the name of such operations.

” As a party, we would not tolerate that, and we urged PDP in the state, if at all they have contention with anyone in the state, they should follow that legally as provided in the constituion of the federal republic of Nigeria.”

Mada therefore called on the police and DSS to handle the matter deligently in the interest of the public in order not to be perceived as being working for the PDP in the state, just as he urged the party loyalists to remain calm.
