A group operating under the name “Benue Youth Vanguard”, has thrown its weight behind the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party LP, Peter Obi saying he is the most credible candidate among all those contesting for the position.

The group also expressed optimism that Engr. Ben Akaaka will get the judgement at the appeal court from the case he instituted against Iorwase Hembe over the Labour Party Governorship election in Benue, challenging his credibility.

Akaaka who lost to Iorwase Hembe at the Primaries had taken him to court challenging his victory, alleging that he was still a member of the All Progressive Congress APC.

In statement issued Sunday in Makurdi by the chairman Tsetim Timber, and secretary Harry Nungwa, and emailed to our correspondent, the group said the judiciary remained the last hope of the common man, adding that there is hope that the judgement will be fair to the generality of Benue people who are looking up to Akaaka as the messiah of Benue.

The group noted that only the Presidential candidate of LP Peter Obi and Akaaka can save Nigeria and Benue respectively from the present mess.

“The coming of Peter Obi has boosted the Political atmosphere in the country and the coming of Akaaka shall boost the Labour party in the state again.

“The people should keep faith in the party since it is the only political party that will save Nigeria and Nigerians from the present hardship being experienced in the country.

“We as a group will work hard to mobilize votes for the Presidential candidate of LP party and Akaaka if he eventually wins his case at the appeal court which we are sure he will.

“We urged all Benue people to come out massively and vote for the Labour Party in the forthcoming general elections in the country,” the group added.
