From George Kajo, Makurdi

Benue state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), says it has reviewed the conduct of the February 25 presidential and national assembly general election and rejected the results with regard to Benue state.

Acting Chairman of the PDP in Benue state, Mr. Isaac Mffo at a news conference in Makurdi, said INEC did not comply with the laydown guidelines for the exercise.

According to Mr Mffo, elections were marred and rigged in some local Government areas in favour of the opposition APC in the state.

The PDP state chairman noted that, although there were cases of internal squabbles within the party, lessons have been learnt and reconciliation steps already taken during the review meeting aimed at closing the gaps.

According to him, after the review, the party directed its legal department to institute actions at the tribunal with the aim of seeking redress and reclaiming what it referred to as stolen mandate.

The party also condemned the renewed attacks on some Benue communities especially in Kwande, Gwer West by Fulani terrorists group in which scores were killed and houses destroyed and called on president Muhammadu Buhari to rise up to the responsibility of protecting lives and properties.

It will be recalled that in the just concluded presidential and national assembly general election, APC won two out of the three senatorial seats and ten out of eleven House of Representatives seats in the state as well as delivered Benue to Ahmed Tinubu of the APC.
