In what appears a direct response to the vituperations of former Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu that but for him, both President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Dapo Abiodun would not have won their elections in 2015 and 2019 respectively, the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun says he is not a student of exaggerated self-importance.

Seemingly hitting back at the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, saying that he is not a political emperor with an entitlement mentality.

Tinubu had on Thursday in Abeokuta humiliated Governor Abiodun saying that he would not have been the Ogun State Chief Executive but for his (Tinubu) benevolence.

And in a veiled response on Friday via his Twitter handle; Governor Abiodun states; “I am not an emperor by any chance and this is not my family inheritance.”

“I am holding this position in trust for all the people of this state and I have vowed to be fair, just and equitable and this is the solemn agreement I made between the Almighty God and myself,” he said.

The post is seen as the Ogun State Governor hitting back at Tinubu, who insisted during the meeting with APC delegates and stakeholders that he must be the next president of Nigeria.

Throwing caution to the wind and condescending low by pointing at Governor Abiodun, Asiwaju Tinubu said; “This one sitting behind me, Dapo, can he say he could have become a governor but for me?”

However, despite Tinubu’s outbursts, Governor Abiodun maintained his cool, refusing to respond to the obvious humiliation and caustic verbal attacks which took many of the dignitaries present at the event by surprise
