A top governorship aspirant on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Benue state, Dr. Paul Angya has charged his teaming supporters and party men to remain calm as the PDP leadership strives to nominate a consensus candidate to fly its flag in the 2023 elections.

Angya who was former Acting Director General of Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), said he remained positive and committed to offering credible leadership to lead the party to victory at the 2023 polls.

Fielding questions from newsmen at his Makurdi residence on Friday, Dr Angya urged members of the public to disregard any publication to the contrary as a product of mischief.

He lauded the efforts of Governor Samuel Ortom, Senator Gabriel Suswam, Sir John Ngbede and other leaders of the party for kick starting the process, expressing confidence in their ability to conduct a dispassionate and transparent exercise.

He disclosed that a number of reports and public polling have favoured him for the job.

“The required qualities of hard work, diligence, tenacity of purpose as well as educational qualification, work experience, global exposure, Christian values, exemplary family life and commitment to uplifting of Benue state stands me tall,” he said.

According to him, the grace of God upon his life and the striving to meet the yearnings of Benue people have endeared him to a large population thereby ensuring victory at the polls come 2023.

“In response to spiritual guidance and the positive encouragement of the populace across Benue state and party faithful, I was encouraged to purchase the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms and ready for the primaries which I am trusting to win.”

He described the trimming process at the Local Government levels that led to the emergence of some aspirants as totally baffling as it failed to take cognizance of the popular yearnings of those to be governed.

“It is on this note that I have joined the majority of aspirants who have called on the party leadership to ensure that equity, justice and fairness is restored.”

He therefore, called on his teeming supporters, loyalists and political associates to continue the consultations with stakeholders till the primaries where the ‘New Deal’ with the grace of God anticipates certain victory.
